So, the convention was more than a month ago. It's been a busy time getting ready for the year ahead. Here's a bit of a report of what your Music Director did and experienced at the convention. It was a very full, but very good, week in Grand Rapids. Among the many breakout sessions and keynote addresses, we had daily liturgies. We celebrated the Eucharist as a convention twice, once with NPM President Msgr. Rick Hilgartner presiding and the second with Bishop David J. Walkowiak, Bishop of Grand Rapids, presiding. In the forthcoming NPM Arlington and NPM DC joint newsletter, DC Chapter Director Charlene Dorian gives a succinct review of the keynotes. One of my favorite moments of the week was Taize prayer on Tuesday evening. Although beginning at 10:00 PM after a long first full day of the Convention, this prayer was exactly what one needed. The simple music allows the assembly to enter into prayer, to appreciate those singing with you, to be grateful to the One who brought us together. Here's an image of how the stage in the main hall was set for Taize.
