This weekend the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time gets bumped as we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. This feast is so special because it celebrates the multitude of saints in heaven whose names we don't know. We celebrate St. Patrick, St. Valentine, St. Matthew, St. John, et al., on specific days throughout the year. But this feast is for all Christians who have succeeded in becoming Saints - our baptismal call - and being in the holy, majestic presence of our Trinitarian God.
This feast is also paired with the following day, the Commemoration of All Souls on November 2. Throughout this month of November we remember all those who have died, pray for those in purgatory, and all those who need our prayers. We pray that all the baptized may one day become saints.
